It is now officially October which means the weather is getting warmer, the sun is shining and we are ready to meet our next intake of incredible students! This October, we have so much exciting news including an interview with Carmen McNamara (A.K.A The Skin Fairy), a giveaway with our friends at Skinstitut, and all the latest updates on all things ACTI. Couple this with the start of our enrolment period and we have a jam-packed month!
We’d love to introduce you to an incredible business owner, dermal therapist, and amazing woman, The Skin Fairy (Carmen McNamara)
You might have seen Carmen pop up on our Find Your Career in Beauty highlight earlier this year. Carmen is an inspiration to so many in the beauty industry. Carmen and her team at Skin Fairy Clinic change lives – one skin treatment at a time. We asked Carmen about her career in beauty therapy and what she loves most about her career in beauty therapy.
What is your approach to achieving a healthier skin?
Skin is a holistic approach, everything effects everything. The sooner clients and skin therapists work in synergy together, treating topical and internal, exciting changes start to happen. You can truly change someone’s life for the better when you help them achieve healthier skin. My advice is always to start small, drink more water, include vitamins into your diet, use a mask once a week etc, small steps help the approach to changing any routine, feel a lot more doable.
What advice would you give to someone considering a career in beauty therapy?
GO FOR IT! There is so many avenues, so many directions you could go. Find your passion within the industry and work hard pursing it! The options are endless! I started in beauty side of things and now work in dermal side, only treating skin with an amazing team of 9 superstars (ITS SO MUCH FUN). The industry has amazing opportunities for everyone and anyone! Its truly so diverse.
We are so incredibly grateful to Carmen for sharing her experience in the beauty industry. You can see more about Carmen at @theskinfairy_ or Skin Fairy Clinic at @skinfairyclinic. Her website is found here:

This week, our CEO, Borka attended her first practical training session with the Australasian College of Health and Wellness. Borka was joined by a team of fellow students and future health professionals, as well as Senior Lecturer at ACHW, Terry Everitt. Under Terry’s expert guidance, the students refined their skills in lymphatic massage and electrical technologies for dermal therapies. Borka had a fantastic week away and can’t wait until her next practical training in 2020.
Borka is completing a higher education degree with ACHW, studying an Associate Degree in Applied Health Science (Clinical Aesthetics). As an owner of a cosmetic clinic and the owner of a training school specialising in beauty therapy and laser, this is the perfect course for Borka to expand her knowledge of the growing industry. We can’t wait to see where this degree takes Borka in the future.
If you want to find out how you can take your career in beauty therapy to the next level with a higher-education qualification, you can chat with the friendly and expert team at ACHW. More information can be found here.
